Supreme Court of Pakistan Judges Seniority List 2024
The Supreme Court of Pakistan is the highest appellate court of the country, headed by the chief justice of Pakistan. The Supreme Court of Pakistan consists of the chief justice and sixteen justices. In the history of Pakistan, first supreme court was created under the Constitution of 1956. According to 1956 Constitution it known as the Federal court and its head office was in Karachi. According to 1973 constitution the supreme court of Pakistan start work in Islamabad. The article 176 to 191 deals with composition of the Court and appointment and qualifications of the Chief Justice of SC. The seniority list is prepared on basis of the appointment date of the any judge in the SC. When a judge is appointed in Supreme court its seniority start that day. Composition of Supreme Court of Pakistan
At the binging, the supreme court of Pakistan consisted of a Chief Justice and six senior judges from Sindh, Punjab, NWFP, Baluchistan. The Prime Minister executive selection committee was nominated the Judge name for the supreme court on the basis of the performance in High courts. And finally the President of Pakistan appoints the judges in the SC. But at present the supreme court of Pakistan consisted of a Chief Justice and sixteen permanent judges and two ad hoc judges. Now the judicial commission approve a new name for the appointment as a judge in supreme court. Then this name goes to the Parliamentary Committee that approve this name. Prime Minister of Pakistan send a summary to appoint the judge in SC. The President of Pakistan finally appointed the judge in SC. The Chief Justice of Pakistan take moth from a judge of the SC.

Current Chief Justice of Pakistan
In 2024, Honorable Mr. Justice Qazi Faez Isa is the current chief justices of Pakistan. The justice Qazi Faze Isa was appointed as Chief Justice on 17 September 2023. The chief justice Faez Isa belong to Baluchistan province and has an association with the law spanning forty-five years. He serve 27 years as layer and in 2009 he was appointed as as the Chief Justice of Balochistan High Court. The justice Faez Isa appointed as supreme court judge on 5 September 2014. The justice Faez Isa write a note at decision on the trial of civilians by military courts, that such trials did not accord with the Constitution. The Chief justice Qazi Faez Isa deceide to show the live coverage of the Supreme court of Pakistan on TV screen in 2023. Justice Qazi Faez Isa is the 26th Chief Justice of Pakistan and remains Chief Justice till 26 October 2024.
Resignation of Two Judges of Supreme Court
In the month of January two judges resigned form supreme court of Pakistan. The first one was the Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi and the second was the justice Ijaz ul Ahsan. Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi resign on 10 January 2024 while the justice Ijaz ul Ahsan on 11 January. Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan was the next chief justice of pakistan after the retirement of the justice Qazi Faez Isa. The Presidaent of Pakistan Arif Alvi accept the resignation of both judges on the advice of the Prime Minister of Pakistan. After the two judges resignation form supreme court now there are total 14 judges. However three judges posts are vacant in the supreme court of Pakistan now.

Who is the Next Chief Justice of Pakistan
According to the seniority list of the judges of the supreme court of Pakistan Justice Sardar Tariq Masood is the most senior judge. But Justice Sardar Tariq Masood can not became chief justice of Pakistan because his retirement date is 10 March 2024. In present Justice Qazi Faez Isa is the chief justice of Pakistan till October 18, 2024. After the retirement of the chief justice Qazi Faez Isa, the justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah will be the next chief justice of Pakistan. Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah will remain chief justice till 27 November 2027. According to the seniority list, justice Munib Akhtar will become the 31st Chief Justice of Pakistan on 28 November 2027. After the chief Justice Munib Akhtar the next chief justice will be Justice Yahya Afridi. While Justice Ayesha Malik and Justice Shahid Waheed will become the next chief justice of Pakistan.

Mrs. Justice Ayesha A. Malik is the first female judge of the SC in the history of Pakistan. Justice Ayesha A. Malik born in 1966 and got LLB degree from the Pakistan College of Law, Lahore. While got LLM degree form Harvard Law School. Justice Ayesha A. Malik start her legal career with Fakhruddin G. Ebrahim & Co at Karachi in 1997. Ayesha A. Ayesha A. Malik was appointed as judge at Lahore High Court in 27 March 2012. Justice Ayesha Malik remains the chairperson of the the Judicial Officers Female Supervisory Committee . She is appointed the judge of the supreme court of Pakistan in January 2022. Justice Ayesha A. Malik takes oath as supreme court judge on 23 January 2023. According to the seniority list, Justice Ayesha A. Malik will become the 34th Chief Justice of Pakistan on 23 January 2030.
